CHICAGO
EVENING

MAGICRUISE is like if a Chicago River boat tour and a Chicago-style magic show had a baby… an AWESOME baby.

INAUGURAL CRUISE

THURSDAY, JULY 28

7 - 9 PM

ONE AWESOME BOAT

Enchantment is the newest, state-of-the-art member of Island Party Boat’s fleet. The salon has huge windows for sight-seeing and lots of room to enjoy the show.

TWO FULLY STOCKED BARS

(And your first drink’s on us.)

THREE COOL DORKS WITH GLASSES

Edd Fairman (Emcee/Magician) is the Mike Ditka of magic: changed Chicago forever, even though he’s from Pennsylvania. Edd’s specialty is Chicago-style bar magic, which you’ll see brilliantly adapted in the ship’s salon.

John Sturk (Maestro/Tour Guide) is a legendary improv pianist, with credits including Second City. His music backs up the magic performances, and his river tour will answer all your burning Chicago questions (except for why we put celery salt on hot dogs).

Scott Green (Magician) has been the Chicago Bulls’ team magician and is a regular on Chicago’s Own WGN. Credits include “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” where he cracked eggs over Alyson Hannigan’s head. His MAGICRUISE act raises more questions than iit answers: questions such as “Huh?”, “What the?”, and “How in the world did he DO that?”

FAQ

Where do I board the boat?
The boat boards at 355 East Riverwalk South, Chicago, IL 60601. It’s the south side riverwalk of the Chicago River. If you set your maps app to 300 E. Wacker, you’ll get pretty close; take the stairs down to the Riverwalk and look for the Island Party Boat docking area.

What ages are allowed on the boat?
Only patrons 21 and up are allowed on the boat. Two children sitting on each other’s shoulders in a trench coat may be allowed, IF their disguise is sufficiently fooling AND they both have ID showing they’re 21.

How long does the evening last?
MAGICRUISE lasts two hours, give or take, from leaving the dock to returning.

Where do I park my car?
NOT ON THE DAMN BOAT, THAT’S FOR SURE. If you’re driving, we recommend searching for a space on SpotHero near 300 E. Wacker (on the south side of the river). Also if you’re driving, maybe make your free beverage a soft drink?

Will I learn about architecture and Chicago history?
Like the non-serial-killer parts of The Devil In The White City, yes, you will learn about architecture and Chicago history. John’s Chicago tour is insightful, informative, and, best of all, irreverent and really fun. The things you learn will be enriching and you will use them in your daily life, so long as you’re the one in your group of friends who’s always explaining the difference between Burnham and van der Rohe.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?
Two bathrooms, actually. They’re located on the poop deck which, yes, is named “poop deck” for the exact reason you’re thinking.

Do you sail in bad weather?
It has to be bad enough weather to create unsafe conditions, but in that case, the cruise would be canceled and your money refunded.

What’s a barnacle?
A barnacle is a type of arthropod constituting the subclass Cirripedia in the subphylum Crustacea. It doesn’t matter, there won’t be any on the boat.
